#adocchichiusiproject è un progetto, aperto e inclusivo, che raccoglie (miei) ritratti di persone ad occhi chiusi. Chi aderisce al progetto offre anche sue riflessioni sulle sensazioni e sui pensieri evocati da questa condizione. Il buio è uno stato in cui viviamo tutti, almeno per una parte della nostra giornata: è il tempo del sonno, del sogno, e anche del bacio, di un profumo intenso, di una musica evocativa. Ma per gli ipovedenti questa è la dimensione della propria esistenza, e forse di tutta la vita. Quello della cecità è un mondo circondato da pietismo, pregiudizi e stereotipi, come per larga parte dell’universo della disabilità. Ma l’acuirsi dei sensi e l’allargamento delle proprie abilità possono portare a superare i limiti imposti ed a raggiungere traguardi e obiettivi difficili da immaginare. Spero che questo progetto possa essere di stimolo a diffondere la consapevolezza attorno a questo tema. Politiche intelligenti e inclusive potranno e dovranno aiutare a rimuovere barriere e pregiudizi, stimolando anche chi vede ad usare le lenti della mente. (Francesca Poto)

WORK IN PROGRESS

#adocchichiusiproject is a project, open and inclusive, which collects (my) portraits of people with their eyes closed. Those who join the project also offer their reflections on the sensations and thoughts evoked by this condition. Darkness is a state in which we all live, at least for a part of our day: it is the time of sleep, dreams, and also of kisses, an intense perfume, of evocative music. But for the visually impaired this is the dimension of one's existence, and perhaps of one's whole life. Blindness is a world surrounded by pietism, prejudices, and stereotypes, as for a large part of the universe of disability. But the sharpening of the senses and the broadening of one's abilities can lead to overcoming the imposed limits and reaching goals and achievements that are difficult to imagine. I hope this project can be a stimulus to spread awareness around this theme. Intelligent and inclusive policies can and must help remove barriers and prejudices, also stimulating those who see to use the lens of the mind. (Francesca Poto)
